Amino acids

What are amino acids ?

Amino acids are molecules that link together to form proteins. According to the body’s regeneration needs, enzymes gather amino acids to form new proteins that perform specific roles in the body. It is because of amino acids that the body can form cartilage, bones, tendons, muscles, nerves, the skin, nails, hair and blood. In addition to the vital role they play in the transport and storage of nutrients, they are able to combat deficiencies linked to metabolic problems.

The 20 amino acids are called essential or nonessential.

Essential amino acids :

Essential amino acids are vital to life and cannot be produced by the body. They must be provided by foods or supplements. They are 8 in number : isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophane, valine.

Non essential amino acids :

Non essential amino acids are naturally produced by the body, but that does not mean we should not consume any. Because the capacity of the body to produce amino acids varies from one person to another and that the needs are different, it is important to consider all the amino acids in our diet to remain in good health. These are 12 in number : alanine, arginine, asparginine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamic acid, glutamine, glycine, histidine, proline, serine, tyrosine.

Amino acids in collagen :

Collagen is a protein of a specific amino acid composition.

Collagen contains 18 amino acids.

The benefits of each amino acid in collagen :

Following are the specific qualities of each amino acid in collagen :

  • Alanine

Tonic effect on the immune system, reduces the level of acidity in the body, tones connective and muscular tissues, tones the central nervous system and brain.

  • Arginine

Helps to convert fats into muscle mass and energy, accelerates wound healing and damaged tissues, helps form collagen for healthy tendons and ligaments, diminishes urea blood levels, better production of proteins for muscle growth, improves the number of spermatozoids, strengthens the immune system.

  • Asparagine

Eliminates the lack of non essential amino acids, calms nervousness, supplies L-aspartic acid.

  • Aspartic acid

Eases chronic fatigue, gain in vitality and tolerance to fatigue, detoxifies the body, soothes muscle spasmes.

  • Acide glutamique

Relief of mental fatigue, better memory, protects against the effects of stress, supplies GABA, helps with impotence, supplies glutathion, protects the pancreas, helps hypo-insulinics, helps to tolerate glucose (GHT)

  • Glutamine

Improves intellectual functions, helps wean alcool, helps treat impotence, helps heal gastric ulcers and gastritis, helps in the treatment of connective tissue diseases, anti-depressant effect, helps maintain muscle mass.

  • Glycine

Beneficial for the skin, cartilages, tenons and bones, supplies glutathion, helps develop muscles, stimulates hypophyse, vitality of the immune system, helps increase red blood cells.

  • Histidine

Helps eliminate progressive deafness, helps eliminates problems linked to anemia, allergies, arthritis, and bad digestion.

  • Isoleucine

Improves alertness, better muscular condition, calms, decreases blood sugar, increases endurance and keeps cartilages and tendons healthy.

  • Leucine

Helps rapidly heal bone, muscle and skin injuries, longer alertness, better coordination and calmness.

  • Lysine

Treats skin reactions to stress, helps assimilate calcium, helps produce collagen and elastin fibres, stimulates the immune and endocrine system, increases the thinning effect of L-arginine and L-ornithine.

  • Methionine

Relieves the liver, eliminates blood and tissu triglycerides, heavy metal detoxifier, treats rheumatoid, helps osteoporosis.

  • Phenylalanine

Effective against depression, improves mental capacity and memory, diminishes appetite, diminishes pain linked to osteoarthritis, arthritis, back pain, muscular cramps, postoperative pain, helps to detoxify alcool and drugs.

Tonic effect on the immune system, reduces the level of acidity in the body, tones connective and muscular tissues, tones the central nervous system and brain.

  • Proline

Strengthens and repairs cardiac muscles, accelerates regeneration of muscles, tendons and revitalizes joints, maintains healthy skin, bones and other tissues.

  • Serine

Facilitates the elimination of fat, helps muscle growth, eliminates deficiency in glutamine, strengthens the immune system.

  • Threonine

Supplies cartilages, ligaments, balances proteins in the body, detoxes the liver, improves heart functions, the nervous system, muscles, the digestive system and immune system.

  • Tyrosine

Stimulates the body, balances the thyroïde, the surrenals and hypophyse, soothes tension, diminishes muscular pain, inverses stress.

  • Valine

Mental alertness, better muscle coordination, better energy supplies, regeneration and repair of muscular tissues, accelerated muscle, skin and bone wound and injury healing.
