Mechanism of action

Collazymes – Mechanism of action

Collazymes is the first association of collagen hydrolysate and digestive enzymes. These two components work in synergy and each play a key role in the production of new proteins.

Amino acids in Collazymes

Collazymes provides the following essential amino acids : histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, valine. These help in the maintenance of good health and are involved in protein synthesis.

Collazymes provides the following non-essential amino acids : alanine, arginine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glycine, proline, serine, tyrosine which are also involved in protein synthesis.

Effects and influence on joint cartilage and cells

Lysine, hydroxyproline, hydroxylysine and arginine accumulate in joints, enrich its cells and help maintain healthy joints. Lysine plays a major role in the formation of new collagen.

Amino acids have shown to have many effects on a variety of cells (chondrocytes, proteoglycanes, glycoproteins) involved in the enzymatic production and decomposition of joint and cartilage cells.

These amino acids help maintain balance between the production and decomposition of cells. When this balance is disrupted, decomposition becomes predominant and functionality becomes restricted. These amino acids influence cell metabolism and accelerate the cartilage renewal process and can consequently help slow down its degradation.

Anti-inflammatory process

Disruption of of the biochemical process of joint cells can activate the inflammatory process. We observed that Collazymes was, in some cases, able to reduce the inflammatory process. This mechanism is not fully understood, but we think it is attributed to the fact that Collazymes provides essential nutrients (amino acids and enzymes) able to influence joint health.

Effect on pain

Glycine and proline play a major role in fibrous tissues. A deficiency of these amino acids can weaken tissues resulting in joint, muscle, tendon and ligament pain.

These amino acids accumulate in connective tissues, provide nourishment to joint cells, ease pain and can significantly reduce the need for pain medication (analgesics).

Digestive enzymes in Collazymes

Collazymes provides the following blend of digestive enzymes : amylase, cellulase, lactase, lipase et protease.
